Scholarship Program
Charlton Loan and Scholarship Program (CLASP)

The Charlton School endows a Scholarship program designed to further the higher educational goals of our students.  The Charlton Loan and Scholarship Program - "CLASP", provides scholarships and interest-free loans to former students who demonstrate a desire and ability to pursue a post-secondary education.  All girls who successfully complete the Charlton Program are eligible for this assistance.

PURPOSE

The C.L.A.S.P. program is designed to facilitate and encourage students to strive for self-improvement during their placement at the Charlton School and after discharge by providing financial aid, in the form of grants, scholarships and no-interest loans, to students who demonstrate a motivation and an ability to seriously pursue a post-secondary education.

Post-secondary education is seen as any academic or vocational training, after high school graduation, which leads to a degree, a certificate or a trade that the student can use to further her professional career and to become a productive citizen and successful adult.  The institution that the student chooses must be eligible for Federal financial assistance.

 ELIGIBILITY

A student who is successfully involved in or has successfully completed the Charlton School program is eligible to apply for financial assistance through C.L.A.S.P.   She also must have applied to and been accepted by a post-secondary program of study or be currently enrolled and provide a transcript of her most recent grades.

APPLICATION

A  student should apply for support from C.L.A.S.P. through the Executive Director of the Charlton School.  The Executive Director will evaluate the application and send it with his/her recommendation to a member of the Executive Committee.  That member will present the application at the next Executive Committee meeting.  That presentation will include significant history and a summary of current grades, course of study, and personal information included in the application form or letter accompanying the application.  A student must apply for aid each new term.

The disposition of the request including the type and the amount of the financial support is the sole responsibility of the Executive Committee who will take individual circumstances and other available financial resources of the student into consideration in their decision.  The Committee will also review and revise the application form annually.

FUNDING

Funding for the program will come from available funds in the C.L.A.S.P. Fund. Individuals and corporation gifts may be specifically designated to support this important academic program.
